- Cenpatico is a day school for elementary, middle and high school students with behavioral issues and special needs. As a clinical intern, I provided therapeutic counseling for enrolled students. I worked with children with Autism, Multiple Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities, and Mild to Moderate Developmental Delays. My duties include:
o One-on one counseling
o Group counseling
o Counseling curriculum planning
o Case management
o Participating and contributing to Child Family Teams and IEPs
o Intake Assessments
Instructional Specialist October 2007-August 2010
TRiO SSS Arizona State University Tempe, AZ
- As an Instructional Specialist, I provided supplemental instruction to students accepted into the TRiO Student Support Services program. TRiO is designed to support students with disabilities enrolled in a college setting. The goal of my services was to improve students' understanding of the course materials, as well as their own overall understanding of the learning process. My duties included:
o One-on-one supplemental instruction
o Managing the tutoring program which consisted of over a dozen tutors and serviced over 100 students
o Training the tutors and creating a training guide for working with students with disabilities
o Teaching ASU 101 and UNI 194 for incoming freshman that were enrolled in TRiO
o Helping to plan and manage our summer Get A Transition Early (GATE) program
Tutor August 2006-September 2007
Camp Fire USA Tempe, AZ
- I worked with high school students at Precision High School on AIMS material in a classroom setting. I taught students that previously failed the AIMS test effective reading and writing skills and strategies. My duties included:
o Developing lesson plans
o Test preparation lessons
o Teaching students how to write essays
o Increasing student reading skills
