    Assistant Director for New Student Programs 7/2007-Present

    Student Orientation
    • Provide a comprehensive family and matriculation program for all students while
    focusing on particular transitional needs of transfer and underserved populations.
    • Recruit, train and supervise a diverse 58-person student orientation staff including 1 fulltime
    Student Orientation Coordinator.
    • Coordinate all communication and logistics, including room reservations, facilities,
    vendors, and work with various departments, faculty, and staff.
    • Collaborate with academic deans and directors of academic support services to ensure
    orientation meets the needs of academic programs.
    • Work closely with Admission to design and coordinate a comprehensive and seamless
    communication protocol for new students.
    • Prepare correspondence for new students and families; design print and electronic
    publications, and maintain orientation website via the communication management
    system.
    • Manage a budget of $60,000.
    • Assess the program based on intentional goals and learning outcomes, including
    analyzing and reporting data to the college leadership.
    • Proficient in computer programs like In Design, FileMaker and PageMaker Pro, in
    addition to the Occidental's Communication Management System.
    Special Population
    • Developed a comprehensive transfer support program and created a student organization
    called T.I.P.T.O. (Transfer Initiative Programs for Transition to Oxy).
    • Implemented and evaluated Tiger Tuesday, a 5-week program that serves to further
    integrate transfer students onto the campus.
    • Serve as consultant to the college on transition challenges and trends of all students.

    and First Generation Student Success Program.

    • Recruit, train and supervise 5-8 Office of Student Life Program Assistants.
    • Serve as a member of the Student Life Office and provide a high-level of customer
    service to students, staff and faculty seeking the services offered by the office.
    • Objectively advocate for student organizations while implementing and supporting
    college policies.
    Supervisor for the Green Bean Coffee Lounge
    • Responsible for overall function of the lounge including, but not limited to coaching,
    counseling, and overall development of the student management team.
    • Select, train, supervise, and provide developmental guidance to 3 student managers.
    • Developed a strategic plan by creating and implementing a comprehensive student
    development goals and learning outcomes.
    • Work closely with the Campus Dining Liaison to ensure the sustainability of excellence
    in products and service.
    • Communicate budgetary successes and challenges of the lounge and make necessary
    changes based on the information.
    • Incorporated internship credit and experience into the Sales Analysis manager position to
    increase out of classroom experience.

    on Duty with the Office of Residence Life & Housing Services.
    • Provide direction to Resident Assistants and Campus Safety Officers during crisis and

    • Compose and submit incident reports in a timely manner and participate in the Student

    Coordinator of Student Activities, John Muir College 9/2002-4/2006

    • Developed and supervised student programs, activities, organizations, and services for
    over 3,000 students through events such as Hypnosis Show, Involvement Session, and
    Un-Olympics.
    • Advised college student organizations including Programming Board, Semi Formal
    Committee, Theatre Troupe, Commuter Council, and Volunteer Program in developing
    leadership skills and programs to meet the diverse needs of Muir students.
    • Maintained relationships with a variety of community service establishments in the San
    Diego area such as San Diego Schools, KPBS, Torrey Pines Convalescent Home, and
    Salvation Army.
    • Processed contracts, developed and managed budgets totaling $29,000 for a variety of
    activities.
    • Coordinated and implemented the Annual Muir New Leaders Conference for
    approximately 360 nominated participants (almost 50% more than previous years).
    • Coordinated the Semi Formal for approximately 500 students with a budget of $17,000-
    $20,000.

    • Served as a member and liaison of several college and campus-wide committees like
    Martin Luther King Jr. Parade, Black History Month, Admit Day, Triton Power Hour,
    Day at the Bay, Welcome Week, Council of Coordinators of Student Activities and
    Commuter Advisory Board.
    • Served as Chair for the Council of Student Activities Coordinators.
    • Coordinated Muir College Admit Day, a day long program comprised of information
    sessions, information fair, and entertainment for 2,000 prospective students and parents.

    Interim Assistant Dean, John Muir College 4/2006-8/2006

    • Coordinated orientation for approximately 500 new families, 1,000 new first-year
    students, and 400 new transfer students.
    • Trained 6 transfer orientation leaders.
    • Served as a valuable member and liaison for the campus wide planning committees such
    as Campus Logistic Orientation, Transfer Admit Day, Council of Assistant Deans and
    Welcome Week.
    • Supervised and provided work direction to the Acting Coordinator of Student Activities.
    • Supervised and coordinated 4 events for Senior Week which attracted over 200
    graduating Seniors.
    • Coordinated and implemented the Annual Spring Leadership Retreat as well as the
    Transfer Admit Day, a half-day informational program for over 300 new transfer
    students.
    • Drafted and maintained the weekly Muirwords, an information e-newsletter sent to all
    Muir students concerning important academic deadlines and college activities.
